When a Cop's Family Attacks the Wrong Man — Judge LOSES IT in Court! I'm Jason. After 30 years in the justice system, I break down real cases so you can see how the law actually works. Today's case is the sentencing of a retired police officer and his son in the 33rd District Court in Michigan, after a night that began at a Detroit Lions game and ended in a parking lot outside a sports bar. The officer's son had been in a fight. Moments later, the two of them went after a man who had no part in it - a worker at the bar who was left with a severe concussion, a split gumline, and more than eleven thousand dollars in medical bills. By the time the case reached court, a felony aggravated assault charge had quietly been reduced to disturbing the peace. At sentencing, the defense asked for leniency so the officer could keep the firearm he carries for his security job, and walked the court through its own version of that night. The judge refused to look past the police report. He read the witness accounts into the record, stopped the retired officer when he shook his head, and questioned out loud how a felony had become a minor charge - noting that the man had gotten a very good lawyer. He then handed down probation, anger management, no contact with the victim, and an order barring both men from possessing any firearm or dangerous weapon. This is what happens when a man trained to enforce the law decides to take it into his own hands. DISCLAIMER The content on this channel is for educational and informational purposes only.
