BKT cut: 172 ms - ♪ Ridge Racer 6 OST - Floodlight Thanks to @jackgluesing3295 for the insane effort optimizing the last milliseconds, and @MarthTAS for discovering the new pipe clip to get us started. @Alego11-TAS, @Aoiro_mkw, @fossilised2648 had input too. It's crazy to think MC3 still had so much left in the tank! When I first watched Ryan's TAS before I picked up the hobby myself, I truly did think this was the one track which had already been perfected, but here we are now. This TAS had a very unique journey. Usually, we work on lap 1, then use AGC to reuse most inputs on laps 2 and 3. This is because each track has at least one big "QM lock" -- we need to be within a strict range of position to get a good stick, trick, or clip, so some micro improvements must be discarded. However, MC3 is special in that even though many sections are affected by QM (both clips, boost panel, shroom), we can always work around changes in QM and it's not worth it to lose time for better QM. A clean resync only gave us a 747, which was the first run we finished before backtracking. I usually don't break down every single improvement because it's a tedious read, but I think MC3 deserves it. - Improved startslide saves ~10 ms on l1. - New pipe clip saves ~20 ms per lap. It's tough to get a clip which doesn't drop below 80 u/f in the offroad, and lands with a good angle for the drift. - Optimized triple MT to save ~12 ms per lap. There are many small trade-offs between angle and tight line which add up. The big changes were implementing a rare low 15 f hop, and taking a much tighter line during the 1st MT + delaying the MT to countersteer. - U-turn clip is improved by ~10 ms per lap. Landing with more left rotation saves a lot of time; we did this by starting the drift wider, using a +2 angle hop (instead of +7), and taildiving more. - The turn after shroom is improved by ~3 ms per lap by starting the wheelie out of the grounded hop a frame early. - The lap transition + first turn is improved by ~10 ms on both laps. This section is pretty complex; in short, we drift tighter onto the boost panel, then realign more to the left and use wheelie turning to take a much tighter line at the start of the first turn.
