"Sri Lanka is home to an incredible diversity of snake species, with 57 native snakes found on the island. With limited time, in this video, we will be focusing on 19 of these native serpent species, each with their own unique characteristics and adaptations to their environment. Join us as we explore the Sri Lankan Krait, the Lowland Hump-nosed Pit Viper, the Sri Lankan Green Pit Viper, the Sri Lankan Keelback, the Highland Hump-nosed Pit Viper, the Sri Lankan Green vine Snake, the Brown vine Snake, the Sri Lankan Cat Snake, the Barne's Cat Snake, the Sri Lankan Wolf Snake, the Templeton's Kukri Snake, the Common Rough-sided Snake, the Boulenger's Keelback, the Mendis' Shield Snake, the Gunasekara's Shield Tail, the Zigzag Shield Tail, the Deraniyagala's Shield Tail, the Large Shield Tail and the Roshanperera's Shield Tail. Although our time is limited, we hope to provide you with a glimpse into the fascinating world of these native snake species and inspire a greater appreciation for their importance in Sri Lanka's rich biodiversity......" This research was conducted by Mas. Nishel Peiris and Mas. Shehan Dias of St. Sebastian's College Moratuwa. Other teammates are, Chamiru Fernando, Flemin Fernando and Mahima Dissanayake. We used various sources of information, including Reptile database, Lanka nature summary, Naturalist, Snakes of Sri Lanka, and the IUCN Red List to gather insights into their habitat preferences, behavior, and physical features, which we will share with you. We have also used Happy Beat from Windows Video editor as background music.
