This day coincides with the birth anniversary of the tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda. - Born in 1875, Birsa Munda got highly involved in the movement around 1890. He was arrested by the British and died in a Ranchi jail at the young age of 25 in 1900. - Jharkhand also has immense mineral resources: minerals ranging from (ranking in the country within bracket) from iron ore (4th), coal (3rd), copper ore (1st), mica (1st), bauxite (3rd), etc. - It produces almost the entire national output of copper, kyanite (used in the manufacture of heat-resistant porcelain), pyrite (used to make sulfuric acid), and phosphate, as well as much of the output of bauxite (a source of aluminium), mica, kaolin and other clays, and iron ore. Dhanbad, the coal capital of India, is located in Jharkhand. - Jamshedpur is known as the Steel City of India or Pittsburgh of India for being rich in minerals. It is a home to many industries like Tata Motors, Tata Steels, Usha Martin Industries, Steel & Wire Products, Tata Pigments, Tayo Rolls Limited, and many other assets. This city is also known as Tatanagar. - The state is known for its waterfalls, hills and holy places; Baidyanath Dham, Parasnath, Dewri and Rajrappa are major religious sites. - Forest and woodlands occupy more than 29% of the state, which is among the highest in India. … #jharkhand #jamshedpur #birsamunda #bihar #steelcity #ranchi #jpsc #upsc #iasexam #civilservices #geography #geopolitics #geography #kkcreateh
