When I am "just shopping" for card lots and packs on eBay or any other online marketplace, at times I take a "garage sale" or "flea market" approach. I am not necessarily shopping for something - I am checking to see what might be available on all tables to find what might be interesting - of course - at the right price. In my opinion - this was a great pickup from eBay - over 1000 1978 Topps Baseball Cards, in what looked like pretty decent condition! There was only one picture, and a VERY small amount of detail, however from that one picture I knew this could potentially be a really nice pickup of one of my favorite childhood sets of Baseball Cards - 1978 Topps. I can say, I was NOT disappointed at all! The cards - yes, there were OVER 1,000 - all 1978 Topps Baseball Cards were in mostly decent shape. Are they all PSA 10's? No. Of course not! They were cards - in the condition I might have had them as I collected them in 1978, after purchasing packs, trading cards - and flipping cards to increase my collection! Serious schoolyard collection days for me! At 726 cards, this i1978 Topps Baseball Card set was the largest produced by Topps since 1972. Available in wax packs, rack packs, cellos, and vending boxes, the set boasts a number of subsets, including League Leaders, Record Breakers, and Rookie Prospects. Also featured are 66 double-printed singles, including the Jack Morris and Pete Rose cards. Sporting a simple design, the front of these cards exhibit a larger photo than other contemporary Topps issues. With the exception of All-Star starters from the previous season and subset cards, the fronts include a white baseball in the upper right corner indicating the player's position. All-star singles boast a shield denoting the player's elite status and position. Members of the Topps All-Star Rookie team have a white ball announcing their position, as well as a trophy highlighting their All-Star status.
