VitalScape is a small multiplayer RPG I built from scratch in Lua on top of Vital.sandbox, an open-source C++17/Godot sandbox engine. It's my love letter to RuneScape Classic: click-to-walk movement, right-click context menus, tick-based combat, and a skill grind, all running on an authoritative server with real players in the same world. What's in it: • Isometric 32×32 tile world — stone plaza with a campfire, forest to the southwest, quarry to the northeast, and a lake up north • 600ms game ticks and A* pathfinding, just like the real thing • 7 skills: Attack, Defence, Hits, Woodcutting, Mining, Fishing and Cooking • Melee combat with hitsplats, HP bars, XP drops and levels • NPCs with roaming AI and aggression — chickens, cows, rats and goblins that fight back • 28-slot inventory, equipment, food, loot drops and ground items that despawn • Minimap, skills/inventory tabs, chat with overhead bubbles and a message log • Flat-file character saving, so your levels and inventory persist between sessions Every system here — the renderer, the netcode, the combat, the UI — is scripted in Lua against the engine's API.
