IFR MEANS INSTRUMENT FLIGHT RULES, RIGHT? NOT WHEN YOU’RE AN A-10 WARTHOG PILOT FOLLOWING A RIVER AT TREE-TOP LEVEL! 😂✈️ In military aviation, we have another definition for IFR: “I FOLLOW RIVERS!” And this Hawg driver is putting that definition to work! Look at this A-10 Thunderbolt II ripping down a river valley on a low-level navigation and tactics training mission. Watch the aircraft’s shadow racing across the trees. Based on the video, the jet appears to be flying roughly 100–200 feet above the ground. That’s low-level flying, Warthog style! But there’s another detail in this video that caught my eye—and you might have missed it. 👀 LOOK AT THE PILOT’S RIGHT HAND! The one on the control stick. See that strap around his flying hand? It appears to secure a pen or writing tool right where he needs it. Why? Because military pilots have to do more than fly the airplane. They aviate, navigate, communicate, check their position, and write down information while managing the aircraft. With a pen secured to his hand, this pilot can quickly make notes on the kneeboard strapped to his left thigh without having to hunt around the cockpit for a writing utensil. That’s a small detail that tells you a lot about how military pilots work. As a retired U.S. Air Force KC-135 pilot, I always enjoy seeing these little cockpit tricks. After more than 24 years flying military aircraft, I can tell you that the right piece of gear in the right place makes a difference in the cockpit. Low-level tactics, river navigation, and a clever cockpit setup. What a great training flight! HEY, MR. HAWG DRIVER! If you’re the A-10 pilot who recorded this video, let me know who you are so I can give you proper credit. This is a great look at military aviation training! ✈️ Follow and subscribe for more incredible military aircraft, low-level flying, cockpit tricks, and aviation stories from a pilot’s perspective. If you love the A-10 Warthog, fighter jets, and the skills that make military pilots exceptional, you're in the right place! #aviation #avgeek #military #airforce #army #navy #usmc #pilot #pilotlife #flight #flying #fly #aircraft #airplane #plane #jet #airport #photo #photography #video #videoviral #viralvideos #lessonsfromthecockpit #podcast #show
