On Friday, July 12, 1985, Space Shuttle Challenger was scheduled to carry the STS-51-F crew which consisted of Commander Gordon Fullerton, Pilot Roy Bridges, Mission Specialists Karl Henize, Story Musgrave, Anthony England, and Payload Specialists Loren Acton and John-David Bartoe, and to carry the second Spacelab module into space. However, the launch was aborted at T-3 seconds when an error occurred in a coolant valve of main engine #2 of Challenger's 3 main engines. The STS-51-F mission would officially begin two weeks later on July 29. In my opinion, I believe that this event might have been a precursor to the Abort-to-Orbit (ATO) procedure that occurred during the launch.
