My Husband is in construction and the winter months can be slow and money is TIGHT! We are currently on baby step #2 and have made lots of progress the last couple months. We could potentially have my Husband's truck paid off by October/November ($540 min. payment. I know that is a ridiculous amount for a truck payment!! We have $3,900 left) So if we pay it off that would free up that money to help us scrape by the winter months.. but I've been wondering if maybe I should beef up our emergency fund, while work is good and money/overtime is rolling in, first in preparation for winter, then go back to working on the truck getting paid off? We have the $1000 emergency fund but I was thinking maybe adding another $1200 (which is our rent) just incase work is so slow he has to go on unemployment for a month like last year. What are your thoughts. Sorry if this is confusing and makes no sense haha I'm trying to message quickly on my phone with 3 kids running around me! :) -Kadie Sar1386 I'm just beginning Dave Ramsey's book as I have about £15,000 ($22,000) of debt left to pay I originally had around £8,000 more that I've paid of the last 2 yrs. I can't wait to have the debt gone especially as it's not technically mine (I borrowed a special friend over £20,000 across the 6 years for different things including a large loan to save his flat, I also have borrowed family and friends money much of which as u can see I haven't got back) I have always been giving and kind hearted and it has taken a long time to realise some people use me as I will always help. But this past year I have finally learned to say 'no' it's been hard as my heart just wants to give but I can't keep giving when I don't have it myself. I haven't got half the things the people have I've helped, I haven't been away anywhere for 8 years when they go away 2+ times a year and what's worse is I'm a nurse and had an accident at work that has left me with excruciating pain and poor mobility and I went through 7 months where I had no money coming in and no assistance from the government and not one of the ppl I help helped me, one of them I was paying the loan I took out for them to save their flat that was around $400 a month I asked them to help they came and gave me about $70 and said that's ok isn't it. That's the only money I've had from him in 5 years! So now I'm starting this lifestyle for me. I'm crying as write as it feels good to be doing something for myself! If it wasn't for God I wouldn't have made it this far I just pray he blesses all of u.....Sorry for the long essay, this is the first time I've ever spoken about my feelings regarding this but I thought maybe there's someone else who is also in a similar situation, i would love to hear how u all are doing on the journey although I've been paying debt for years I'm only just about to start Dave Ramsey this week so please can u share some advice and motivations u guys have and how u got over struggles etc.. All help will be gratefully received. Thanks for reading and May God bless u all.x. Anita Roberts Sarah, You are doing great! You're half way there! I am so thankful for your posts because they help me stay committed. I'm almost to the one-third mark and will pay off my second of three credit cards in early Sept. Target for consumer debt free is still mid 2018. Questions: Have you ever lived in a large city? Do you have a sense of where you would like to go next? Mena is not your end game. You have an incredible future ahead of you. I wish I had been as wise at your age. I wonder if you have thought of working for Dave in Nashville? You would be an asset to his team. Cassidy Courtney what are your "sinking accounts". also is your budget template available on Google docs?? I have one I'm using, but I like yours better. misty bruce Hey BG, I had a question about sinking funds. Currently all the money we have left after paying monthly bills is put to debt. We have a baby emergency fund but no sinking funds. Should we put less to our debt payoff in order to put money in to sinking funds ? We really just want to be debt free ASAP !
