Watch the full conversation here: https://youtu.be/exibHlVno4o?si=jFxLV6jNc5idEbnK OpenAI just had its biggest developer event of the year, and I was actually there at DevDay 2026 watching the announcements happen in the room. OpenAI announced around 25 updates, but the biggest one was Dots: AI workers inside ChatGPT that can keep working even when you’re not there giving them prompts. Each Dot is powered by GPT-6 Astra, gets its own computer in the cloud, and can connect to thousands of apps through ChatGPT plugins. Instead of giving AI one task at a time, you can give it an ongoing responsibility and bring yourself back into the loop when an important decision needs your approval. But Dots was only one part of a much bigger OpenAI update. ChatGPT Space gives teams, ChatGPT, Codex, and Dots one shared workspace, while Pages brings AI-native documents where ChatGPT can research, create charts, generate images, and visualize data alongside your work. OpenAI also launched GPT-6.1 Sol, a cheaper alternative to Astra that scored 71.4% on OSWorld and 75.2% on DeepSWE, with cached inputs costing just $0.10 per million tokens. Astra Ultrafast takes the opposite approach, generating up to 300 tokens per second for applications where responsiveness matters. Codex can now run coding jobs completely in the cloud, Codex Security Cloud can monitor repositories and find vulnerabilities, and agents built with OpenAI’s Agents API can get full computer use. Plugins are becoming more powerful too, with interactive Plugin Extensions, ChatGPT integrations inside Slack and Microsoft Teams, MCP Events for event-triggered automations, recurring AI responsibilities, a Meetings plugin, Sign in with ChatGPT, Shareable Profiles, and an OpenAI Marketplace. And OpenAI wasn’t the only company pushing AI toward longer, more autonomous work this week. Anthropic launched Claude Sonnet 5.5, bringing faster and cheaper performance to the Claude model designed for everyday work. Google introduced Gemini 4 Argon, which can generate up to 1 million output tokens in a single run and work through massive coding, research, legal, financial, and cybersecurity tasks. Perplexity Computer launched Automations that can react when something changes or run recurring work automatically, along with interactive visuals that let you explore answers instead of simply reading them. Microsoft launched new MAI Voice models designed to make real-time AI conversations dramatically faster, while Google introduced Health Coach, which uses your activity, sleep, recovery, and fitness data to adjust recommendations around your actual day. We also cover Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei’s comments at the White House, where leaders from major AI companies discussed how the US can keep accelerating AI development while managing its risks. From OpenAI Dots, ChatGPT Space, GPT-6.1 Sol and Codex to Claude Sonnet 5.5, Gemini 4 Argon, Perplexity Computer, Microsoft MAI Voice, and Google Health Coach, these are this week’s biggest AI updates — and together they point toward a much bigger shift from AI that answers questions to AI that can keep working. #OpenAI #DevDay2026 #OpenAIDots #ChatGPT #GPT6 #Codex #Claude #ClaudeSonnet55 #Anthropic #Gemini4 #Perplexity #MicrosoftAI #GoogleAI #AINews #AIUpdates #AIAgents āš ļø DISCLAIMER šŸ¤– This video was created with the assistance of AI tools.
