šŸ”— Watch Muscles of the Lower Limb on Ninja Nerd: https://www.ninjanerd.org/lecture/muscles-of-the-lower-limb-anatomy-model Ninja Nerds! In this lecture, Professor Zach Murphy will cover the lower limb's anatomy using a detailed anatomical model. We will start with the hip and thigh muscles, including the gluteal muscles (gluteus maximus, medius, minimus) and the lateral rotators (piriformis, obturator internus, gemelli, quadratus femoris). From there, we will explore the anterior compartment of the thigh, focusing on the quadriceps femoris group, sartorius, and iliopsoas, before moving to the medial compartment and reviewing the adductor group. We will then examine the posterior compartment of the thigh, highlighting the hamstring muscles and their functional role in hip extension and knee flexion. The lecture will continue into the lower leg, breaking down the anterior (dorsiflexors), lateral (evertors), and posterior (plantarflexors) compartments, including the gastrocnemius, soleus, tibialis anterior, fibularis longus and brevis, and deep muscles such as the tibialis posterior and flexor digitorum longus. Lastly, we will cover the foot's intrinsic muscles, discussing their arrangement, innervation, and contribution to maintaining arches and enabling fine motor control during movement.
