Part 2 picks up where the jam left off as The Marshall Tucker Band stretches out into "Everyday (I Have the Blues)" live in 1973 This is the second half of The Marshall Tucker Band's extended live medley recorded in September 1973 at Bill Graham's Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco, continuing directly from Part 1's rendition of "Can't You See" into "Everyday (I Have the Blues)." The performance took place on the first West Coast stop of the band's debut national tour opening for the Allman Brothers Band. Here the original six-man lineup of Doug Gray, Toy Caldwell, Tommy Caldwell, George McCorkle, Jerry Eubanks, and Paul Riddle opens up the arrangement, giving Eubanks' sax and flute room to breathe within the blues-rock groove. It's a showcase of the improvisational side the band brought to its 1973 tour dates, still fresh off the release of its debut album. Both halves of this medley appear on "Way Out West! Live From San Francisco 1973," an archival live album mixed decades later from the complete multi-track tapes of the Winterland show. The full concert also includes "Hillbilly Band," "Another Cruel Love," "Take the Highway," "See You Later I'm Gone," and "Ramblin'." For anyone who watched Part 1, this is the payoff: a young Southern rock band stretching its legs in front of a Winterland crowd that had come out to see the Allman Brothers Band.
