*FULL TIMELINE BELOW Amanvari is ultra-luxury hotel group Aman's newest resort in East Cape, Mexico (~two hours from Los Cabos). At over $5,000 base rate per night minimum, it is also undoubtedly one of the most expensive hotels on the planet. I booked my stay weeks in advance, was in communication with the team, and even brought them a celebratory gift... but I arrived to a much different reception than we anticipated. This video was posted one day after the reservation, which was the second day the hotel was open. This represents a failure in standard operating procedures and guest recovery. **As of writing this, I have not yet heard from Amanvari or Aman corporate on this matter. FULL TIMELINE - I booked Amanvari for $4,662.82 on July 7th, 2026 - I posted my booking to YT community posts, and spoke about it in the live stream, making it public I was coming to review - On July 30th, the Aman team informed me of a media blackout, to which I responded that I am not hosted media, just a paying guest with a camera - On July 31st, Aman responded "although filming in public spaces is not permitted to protect guests, we very much enjoy your content and I would be delighted to coordinate with the on-property team to facilitate filming within approved private spaces." - I did not respond, assuming everything was well - Aman did not reach out again until the cancellation on August 2nd, only 28 hours before I arrived, which I did not see due to filming schedules the day prior - August 3rd, check in day, I hired a drive to take us two hours from our lodging to Amanvari (we were more west than los cabos proper), following the GPS to get to the gate, Amanvari did not offer transportation services in their emails - Upon arriving to the first gate, the gentleman tells us in Spanish the actual gate is next door - You can see in the video, we arrive to the second gate, marked Amanvari, which is where the staff address me by last name - I am told there's no reservation in the system and I must have cancelled it - Security manager comes out and threatens to call the police multiple times, stating it is private property - The GM and managers are unwilling to come out and meet with me - The security takes photos of our driver's vehicle, even after he asks them not to, and then is seen on the phone, ostensibly calling the police - We leave the site, and are stopped briefly by armed patrol within a mile of the property, we have to roll our windows down and let them look inside - On the drive back to Los Cabos, phone calls to the GM and team were ignored, but were answered by reservations when my videographer's phone was used - We were anonymously tipped to not go live on Youtube in Mexico, and to leave right away - Arrived in Los Angeles safely
