Two undefeated fighters. Two identical 10-0 records. Twenty professional victories between them — and not a single defeat. At ONE Fight Night 22 in May 2024, inside Bangkok's legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, ONE Championship staged a collision between two of its most dangerous rising MMA contenders. Akbar "Bakal" Abdullaev of Kyrgyzstan and Halil "No Mercy" Amir of Turkey entered the co-main event with everything to gain and one priceless thing to lose: their perfect records. For Abdullaev, 10-0 was more than an impressive statistic. Every opponent he had faced had been finished. His arrival in ONE had been explosive: South Korea's Oh Ho Taek was stopped in just 44 seconds, and Ecuador's previously undefeated Aaron Canarte lasted only 41 seconds. Against Canarte, a spinning back kick to the body helped ignite the finishing sequence — a reminder that "Bakal" was much more than a conventional knockout puncher. His danger came from timing, sharp boxing, deceptive movement, and an instinct for finding openings before his opponents realized they were there. But this time, standing across from him was a man who had built an equally terrifying reputation. Halil Amir was also 10-0, with nine finishes and eight knockouts. Before moving down from ONE's lightweight division, the Turkish powerhouse had already earned a place among its top contenders. His introduction to ONE was unforgettable: a crushing stoppage of Timofey Nastyukhin, the same Russian fighter who had sensationally knocked out former UFC champion Eddie Alvarez in 2019. Amir followed that statement with a victory over Maurice Abevi and a punishing stoppage of Ahmed Mujtaba. His southpaw stance, heavy left hand, devastating kicks, and punishing work in the clinch made him a nightmare to deal with. He had also sharpened his preparation in Dagestan, training in an environment associated with Khabib Nurmagomedov. The matchup carried an extra twist: Amir was dropping from lightweight to featherweight, believing the move would make him faster and stronger. Abdullaev, meanwhile, knew that overcoming another undefeated finisher could push him closer to the man at the top of the division — ONE Featherweight MMA World Champion Tang Kai. Speed against pressure. Precision against raw finishing power. Two fighters who were used to breaking their opponents' resistance, suddenly facing someone who had never learned how to lose. And this fight would become part of a much bigger story. In January 2025, Abdullaev faced reigning champion Tang Kai. A failure to meet the weight requirements meant he was ineligible to take the ONE featherweight title, even though he defeated the champion by fifth-round TKO. It was a remarkable achievement overshadowed by the championship he could not claim. His career then took another extraordinary turn. On September 15, 2026, Abdullaev entered Dana White's Contender Series still undefeated. A devastating right hand against Ednilson Santos ended the fight in 19 seconds, pushed his record to 14-0, and earned him a UFC contract. Dana White hailed him as possibly the greatest prospect in the show's history. That is what makes this 2024 showdown so fascinating to revisit. Before the UFC contract, before the encounter with Tang Kai, and before the attention of the world's biggest MMA stage, there was one dangerous Turkish striker determined to become the first man to defeat Akbar Abdullaev.
