Recently i’ve noticed a trend regarding helluva boss merch and its that they continue to get worse. So let’s talk about it. So i’ve talked about problems with indie animation merch before, but helluva boss and hazbin merch has really fallen off. The best example is the newest youtooz set. There’s some cute figures like octavia and stolas, robo fizz and vassago. And then there’s stolas in dirty bird. This looks genuinely awful, and it’s rightfully getting criticised by fans. The youtooz account changed their pfp to it to get in on the joke but the item still sucks. Moving on there’s just way too much merch. I’ve been keeping count and there’s been over 30 merch drops in 2 months. They saw glitch spamming merch and were like hold my beer. Alot of the items are just boring or random gags from the episodes. Like why is loona getting injured a trading card? The willow loungefly bag is called an ita bag which isn’t correct. There’s also too many competing websites. There’s sharkrobot, stylish occult and the new spindlehorse website. They all offer similar items they’re competing with eachother and cannibalizing their audience. This isn’t even counting everything on hot topic. Lastly this might just be nostalgia but i miss the old merch drops from years ago. They were simple tees, hoodies pins and things like that. There weren’t any stupid blind boxes or bags. I also feel like they used to be way cheaper. The merch videos themselves were alot more memorable too. Obviously shows need merch to survive, but similar with glitch it’s okay to criticise something that you want to improve. So what do you think? Do you think there’s too much merch?
