Back in 1994 TMS Entertainment were tasked by SEGA to create a new cartoon about Sonic using a combining traditional hand-drawn cel animation by TMS with 3DCG backgrounds by Sega AM3 *the guys behind some of SEGA's 90s 3D arcade games like Sega Rally and Crazy Taxi, they also made 1993's SegaSonic The Hedgehog arcade* They finished a episode and almost aired it on CITV in 1994, however SEGA cancelled the series, in favor of re running old Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog and SatAm episodes, TMS would save it's ideas for a Sonic Cartoon with Sonic X. Here's what left of the Man of the year episode, the only episode TMS and Sega AM3 made during this production. We could of had Sonic X in the early 90s.
