What makes extreme difficulty so hard is the fact that your health does not refill to full when you start the next stage. What you had at the end of the last stage is what you start with. The only way to get health back is to shoot the cats. So this forces you to take as little damage as possible while also shooting every cat you see. This puts an incredible amount of pressure on you since this game throws everything at you to make sure you die. Due to my challenge of not dying, you don't see it, but even if you died and continued, you would still start the stage with whatever health you had left when you started the stage. So if you only had a pixel of health left, have fun trying to recover from that. =( Anyone who has played this game knows how frustrating the final stage Tokyo is. What makes that stage really hard is that it has 4 flaming skulls. They are the worst enemies in the game because they are the only enemies that can move in any direction and adjust their speed to dodge your attacks, and the only thing that can really hurt them are shotgun and grenades. If you don't have either for the blue skulls, it's very hard to survive. Then, you have the next final stage, where you have a bunch of ghosts that keep throwing things at you if you don't shoot them. It didn't happen in this playthrough, but the ghosts can disappear and reappear out of bounds in a place where your machine gun will not reach, which soft locks the game until you die. The only way to hit it is with the laser, which is random. Then, even if you survive that wave, you still have to deal with the final boss, and then the true final boss, the Wolf, which has a ton of health, and there are no weapon pickups you can use except your machine gun. And you get no health refills at all for the last 2 bosses. =( The other thing that made this challenge hard is that the weapon drops are completely random each playthrough. Sometimes you'll get good pickups while other times the game won't give the most critical weapons like the shotgun and flame. As you can see, I just barely beat the game without dying. The Wolf has one attack I can't dodge consistently (the moving balls), so my strategy was to take the damage, and use the i-frames to get a lot of shots in. Depending on how many times he does this move determines my chances of survival, and he did it quite a lot of times which put my health in danger. This was quite a challenge. I'm glad it's done because I'm never going to try it again, lol. This is a great game though. The thumbnail picture comes from the game's intro, which is not included in this video, but I did upload the intro here if you want to see it. I made it separate so I could make the resolution bigger and put the 2 screens side by side: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-gGY0OKJhk&feature=youtu.be Since this was played on emulator, this was played with a keyboard (for moving) and mouse (for firing direction). I find this game more fun to play with mouse and keyboard because you have better control compared with the Nintendo Stylus Pen. No cheats. No save states. No tool-assists. Thanks for watching. =)
