A real life journey of oppositional defiant disorder transformation. Meet Avery, a little genius on her path to self-discovery. Her anger and outbursts have been completely misunderstood, which led to a diagnosis of ODD (oppositional defiant disorder) by the age of 5. The video begins with Avery poking her brother with a pencil. Instead of dictating where she should be, or punishing her actions with a consequence, we gently guide her with a choice of "here" or "over there". This simple yet profound act of seeking her input makes her aware that her actions create a result. It is all up to her! Tom communicates his choices clearly, saying, "I want to be over there." He demonstrates his own decisions, showing her "poke" means "sit over here." These actions, paired with words, provide Avery with a tangible understanding of the results of her choices. We also witnesss Avery's active participation in the process. She decides to "poke" and is met with validation, not anger for her decision. We encourage her to explore her autonomy further by explaining that "poke means I go over here." Avery learns that her actions have direct effect, a valuable lesson in how the world works. The empowerment continues as Avery is shown how to be in different places based on her actions. Standing with hands to herself earns her a place ""over here,"" and she realizes that she has the power to choose where she wants to be. This fosters her independence, accountability, and decision-making abilities in a loving and supportive environment. In this journey, Avery is learning to navigate her world with a sense of ownership, making choices that empower her to be the captain of her own ship. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Welcome to Creating Champions For Life™ Where Struggling Parents Become Empowered Leaders ✅ Grab your FREE exclusive parenting guide – Discover why you’re still struggling and what needs to change to create harmony at home:👉 https://www.creatingchampionsbook.com/ If you’ve tried everything to fix your child’s behavior — from therapy, rewards, punishments, and even medication — and nothing seems to work, you’re not alone. 📚 Snag our Digital Book Collection – Includes Learn to Speak Kid™, Raising Healthy Happy Cooperative Kids™ and 2 bonus trainings:👉 https://www.learntospeakkid.com/ We’re Bonnie and Thomas Liotta, founders of the CCFL movement and co-authors of Learn to Speak Kid™.
