We went inside a Ukrainian POW camp to interview foreign fighters who joined Russia—from Ghana, Somalia, Sri Lanka, and Egypt—and test their stories against the facts. Why did they sign the contract with Russia? Were they promised passports, money, and no frontline duty? What’s true, what’s spin, and what’s a survival tactic in captivity? All interviews were conducted with consent under the Third Geneva Convention. Includes expert context from Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate on how Russia recruits and exploits foreign nationals, plus a look at life in captivity and the legal/ethical maze they now face.
