What an amazing opener to the NBA season! Here's everything you need to know about each of these opening games! First, Celtics vs Pistons, and I think it's safe to say Paul George is NOT the new Celtics Shaq! Despite being 36 years old, George dropped 38 points in his Celtics debut, setting a franchise record, while shooting 12-for-21 from the field, making SEVEN threes and recording FIVE steals! He also passed Kyle Korver for eighth all-time in three-pointers made! George even made three threes in less than a minute to put Boston up by TWENTY-TWO! But Jayson Tatum had a horrible game, scoring just 13 points on 6-for-23 shooting, including ZERO-for-seven from three. Detroit then went on a ridiculous 23-0 run, with Duncan Robinson scoring 21 and Javonte Green adding 19, as the Pistons somehow won 121-113! Then we have the Knicks celebrating their first championship ring and banner night since 1973, only to look like they were still celebrating! Once tipoff started, The Knicks were playing like it was 2010, Brunson scored 21 points but shot just 6-for-19, Mikal Bridges had FOUR points, and New York shot only 37 percent from the field! Andre Drummond actually looked really good, though, recording 10 points and 12 rebounds by HALFTIME against his former team! Meanwhile, LeBron began his historic 24th season wearing a special number 24 patch, finishing with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Jaylen Brown added 19, Maxey dropped 28, and Brown even threw an alley-oop to LeBron that looked straight out of the Miami Heat days with D-Wade, to which that was a bounce pass not an oop! Either way Philadelphia spoiled the Knicks' celebration, winning 106-100! And finally, Thunder vs Spurs, a rematch of last year's seven-game Western Conference Finals where San Antonio eliminated OKC! Well, the Thunder clearly remembered that series, because they led 65-44 at halftime, and at one point made SEVEN of their first EIGHT three-point attempts! Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was cooking from midrange, scoring 28 points through three quarters. Wemby struggled offensively, but still had FIVE blocks midway through the third, including an insane rejection on Shai! And OKC's 7-foot-3 rookie Aday Mara even had a huge block and an alley-oop dunk of his own! The Thunder got their revenge, defeating San Antonio 116-104!
