In 1846 a wagon train including the Reed Family began to venture west in the hope of finding a better life. But a series of mistakes and poor decisions led to delays. In order to successfully reach California, travelers had to clear the Sierra Nevada Mountains before winter. When the Donner Party failed to make it in time they were stuck to freeze and starve at Truckee Lake a mere 100 miles from their salvation. This is the story of one of the families among the Donner Party.
