This is the mk2, improved version of the mid bass driver used in the 780 & 782 speakers. The 77 series uses part number 71-LF525/CPF which, as far as I can tell, is the same unit but without the magnetic shielding. I used this unit from the 77 series in my 782s. It is a perfect fit and sounds great. The 77C (centre speaker) uses the desired 7C-etc part❗ So you could try to pick up a 77C for cheap to break. The 78 series all used the same mid bass unit. It is prone to leaking fluid from the magnet assembly, causing corrosion of the solder joints to the voice coil and the unit subsequently fails. The mk2 mid bass unit from a different supplier (7C-etc) is near identical but engineered to solve the fluid leak issue.
