"Stand by Me" is a song performed by Ben E. King, co-written and composed by him in 1961 alongside Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. In 2003, *Rolling Stone* magazine ranked it 121st on its list of the 500 greatest songs of all time. Following accusations of plagiarism regarding the blues chord progression[2] and the line "Here come old flat-top..."—borrowed from Chuck Berry's "You Can't Catch Me"—in the Beatles' song "Come Together"[3], Lennon was sued by Morris Levy, who held the rights to the Berry track. An out-of-court settlement was reached, requiring Lennon to record three songs owned by Levy for his next album, thereby generating significant revenue for Levy. John Lennon recorded "Stand by Me" for his sixth album, *Rock 'n' Roll*, released in 1975; the album consists of covers of classic rock 'n' roll songs. Enjoy the music.
