2007 Topps Baseball Pack Opening Mantle Ichiro and other CARDS WORTH MONEY!! 2007 Topps Baseball is a 661-card set released in two series. The first 330 cards were released in February, 2007 while Series Two (consisting of cards #331-#661) was issued in June. This was the first black-bordered Topps set since 1971; but unlike 1971 Topps, the 2007 design was not well received by collectors - although I think it makes for a much sharper looking Baseball card! Barry Bonds, whose exclusive trading card deal with Topps expired at the end of 2006, re-upped with Topps in time for the second series - although it is a short print card - number 661. Brandon Morrow (#433), Daisuke Matsuzaka (#630), and Alex Gordon (#634) are the only notable rookie cards - and the Alex Gordon has 2 different varieties - one with signature, the other without. He is not the ONLY error card or Variation card released. In one of these packs - I found another of these - the Yadier Molina, with Autograph which IS the harder find. 2007 was a turning point for Topps and their relationship with The Hobby and card collectors, many consider it a turn for the worse. the first time they resorted to base gimmickry to sell their product - the top example of this is Derek Jeter's base card (#40) which was issued, unannounced, with the images of Mickey Mantle and then-President George W. Bush Photoshopped into the background.
