Mountains offer imagination, says Hemant Gupta, who has climbed Mount Everest. In this tedx talk, he explains his journey to becoming a mountaineer and climbing the highest mountain peak above sea level. He brings into picture the importance of managing waste and how one can do one’s bit towards it. Hemant Gupta, completed his B. Tech in Metallurgical Engineering & Material Science from IIT Bombay in 2011 and joined Tata Steel as Manager Operations. His tryst with adventure sports came during his graduation through a basic course in mountaineering. After joining Tata Steel, he went on expeditions and soon switched to Tata Steel Adventure Foundation in 2013 to follow his heart. As Sr. Manager in TSAF, Hemant is responsible for extending TSAF reach, introducing new courses and designing courses and development of Sport climbing centre of excellence. He is one of the pioneers of School of Outdoor Leadership to impart leadership training to corporates and institutions through nature and outdoors. He is also working on sustainable trails and camps and expeditions to raise awareness on environment conservation and preservation. His favourite activities are rock climbing, mountaineering & long distance running. He is among very few IIT graduates to climb Mount Everest.
