When the Crown of the Andes -- consisting of 5 POUNDS of gold and 400+ emeralds -- arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, its delicate gold arches were sagging, threatening to collapse on itself. In order to be handled and displayed safely, the priceless artifact needed a permanent but reversible mounting system that would provide support while remaining visually discrete.
