Welcome to I’ll Knit (& Spin!) If I want To! I asked y’all to send in some of your questions (from everything from fiber arts, to designing and on!) so I could put together a little video for y’all every Friday doing my best to answer your questions! Special Guest: Candice from The Farmer’s Daughter Fibers: https://thefarmersdaughterfibers.com Sign up for my newsletter here: Sign up for the DRK Newsletter: http://eepurl.com/diPxsr In this week’s episode we cover… 1. Hi Andrea! I will be moving across the country in a few months and need to determine the best way to transport my yarn and fiber stash. I’ve searched it up online and found a lot of people recommending vacuum sealing both yarn and fiber to save space and to protect them from pests. I also don’t want anything shuffling around too much and possibly felting. Do you have any suggestions? 2. My question is how do you keep track of personal knit projects. Do you keep a physical journal or digital? What do you usually note down in your notes? I'm curious as I want to start keeping track of what I enjoy knitting and what I actually wear, use. Goodnotes 3. Hi Andrea! Thank you for all of your wonderful advice, tips, and tricks every week! I knit the Tessellated Pullover a few years ago, and it's one of my favorite sweaters. However, instead of using the suri alpaca/silk for the fluffy yarn, I used a 75 cashmere/25 silk. Now, from wear, the cashmere/silk yarn is starting to wear thin under the arms and has even broken in one or two places (it's just being held together by the fluff sticking to itself!). Normally, I would just use duplicate stitch to fix worn down areas, but is there a better way to fix it in mosaic knitting? Also, do you think the yarn I chose is why is has worn thin? Is cashmere not as strong as suri alpaca? 4. Hi Andrea! I have encountered a two-strand colorwork tension issue I’m hoping you can help with. I knit two-color colorwork with one strand in each hand, but even when I ensure my floats are plenty long, my colorwork ends up looking pretty bumpy. I think I figured out that the reason for this is that my English and continental gauges are SUPER different (the continental being a lot looser) so the stitches from the yarns in each hand are just different sizes. Is there any way to help this? Is there a way to just tension my continental yarn tighter? Or do I need to relearn to knit colorwork with both strands in the same hand? Thanks for any tips!
