Xishuangbanna General Buddhist Temple Located in Jinghong, Xishuangbanna, the Xishuangbanna General Buddhist Temple is the highest-ranking Theravada Buddhist temple in Xishuangbanna and serves as the spiritual center of the Dai people. The temple is situated next to the famous Manting Park and is usually accessed through the park. The temple showcases magnificent Southeast Asian Buddhist architecture, with golden roofs, elaborate carvings, towering stupas, and colorful murals reflecting the rich traditions of Dai Buddhism. As the most important Buddhist sanctuary in the region, it plays a central role in religious ceremonies, Buddhist education, and major festivals celebrated by local communities. Visitors can admire the grand ordination hall, intricate Buddha statues, peaceful courtyards, and chanting monks. Manting Royal Garden The Manting Royal Garden is the oldest park in Xishuangbanna, with a history of more than 1,300 years. It was once the royal garden of the ancient Dai Kingdom and is often referred to as the “Garden of the Soul.” According to local legend, a Dai queen was so enchanted by the beauty of the garden that her soul remained there. The park combines tropical rainforest scenery, royal heritage, Buddhist culture, and Dai ethnic traditions. More than 500 ancient trees are preserved within the park.
