Mojiko Retro on the island of Kyushu is a place like no other we've found. If not for the language, you'd think were were somewhere other than Japan. It’s a small waterfront town with an inner harbor on the Kanmon Strait complete with historic Meiji Era buildings turned into restaurants and shops. There's the world class Kanmon Strait Museum and a pedestrian tunnel 260’ underwater connecting the islands of Honshu and Kyushu! Take a ride on the Hinoyama Ropeway to the top of Hinoyama Mountain looking out to the Sea of Japan. Discover baked curry, unique to Mojiko. Cruise the waters on the classic 1950’s era “Moji” runabout or the futuristic Hanaria that runs on hydrogen and biofuels. Tokyo has miles of waterfront, but its mostly industry, but Mojiko is a rare find in that it is beautiful and pedestrian friendly. This is a most unique experience in Japan!
