The results are honestly pretty surprising! A quick historical recap: The PKM made its first appearance in 2008's Clear Sky, but zombies didn't use it back then. It wasn't until 2009 in Call of Pripyat that zombies officially started wielding machine guns. In Call of Pripyat (2009), zombies can not only fire the PKM, but they also have a full reload animation! Sure, it looks hilarious and clunky — the zombie holds the heavy gun up in the air, pretends to detach the ammo box (which stays magically attached), reaches into its pocket for an invisible fresh box, attaches it, and charges the handle twice in a row (probably to simulate a long reload sequence!). To wrap it up, the zombie twitches its arm off the receiver before getting back into combat mode. Total reload time: 6.39 seconds. It's rough, but IT WORKS! Fast forward to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 (2024)... If a zombie holds a PKM, after a few seconds it literally puts the heavy machine gun away into its backpack and pulls out a random assault rifle (like an AK or AS VAL). It seems zombies in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 completely forgot how to use machine guns! Did they lose their skills over time, or is this a missing feature?
