🔗 https://www.patreon.com/c/liferxhealth https://massagerxla.com/ This is a very common question from new massage therapists. Your hands are tired, your lower back hurts, your shoulders feel heavy, and after a full day of massage you feel like your own body needs therapy. First of all, don’t panic. Almost every therapist goes through this in the beginning. Your body is learning a new profession. But here is the important part: soreness is normal in the beginning, but destroying your body is not normal. Many new therapists make the same mistake. They try to do all the work from their hands, wrists, thumbs, shoulders, and lower back. They push, squeeze, force, and fight the tissue. After a few clients, their hands are exhausted and their back is done. Massage should not come only from your hands. Massage should come from your whole body. You need to learn body mechanics. That means your feet, knees, hips, spine, shoulders, elbows, and hands all work together. You use your body weight, not only muscle force. You move from your legs and hips. You keep your spine in a strong position. You breathe. You stand correctly. You adjust the table height. You use your forearms, palms, elbows, and body angle wisely. If your posture is bad during the session, your body will pay for it later. That is why every new therapist should start learning body mechanics from the very beginning. Don’t wait until you have pain. Don’t wait until you hate the profession. Don’t wait until your hands are injured. Also, yes, your hands and arms need time to get stronger. This profession requires endurance. Your fingers, grip, wrists, forearms, shoulders, and core will adapt over time. After several months, and especially after one year, your body usually becomes much stronger and more comfortable with the work. But strength alone is not enough. If you keep using bad technique, you will still get crushed. So here is my advice: Learn proper body mechanics. Strengthen your hands and forearms. Train your posture. Use your body weight. Stop forcing everything from your thumbs and shoulders. Take care of your own body the same way you want to take care of your clients. Massage therapy is a beautiful profession, but you must protect yourself. Because if you don’t learn how to work correctly, you will become sore every day, start feeling frustrated, begin hating the job, and maybe quit too early. Don’t quit. Learn the right way. Every therapist goes through soreness in the beginning, but with training, body mechanics, strength, and experience, your body will adapt. Your hands will become stronger. Your posture will improve. Your confidence will grow. The goal is not just to give good massage. The goal is to give good massage without destroying yourself. The main lesson is this: don’t wait until the problem happens. Create your policy before the problem. As a therapist, your hands, your energy, and your time are your business. If you do not protect your time, nobody else will. So my advice is simple: Take a deposit. Use a booking link. Confirm everything in writing. Be professional, be fair, but do not feel guilty for protecting your schedule. A serious client will understand. A client who respects your work will respect your policy.
