1994年，許鴻志老師，無意中在舊圖書館的角落發現一堆樂器，那些是以前管樂隊留下來的，好久不見的樂器大家早就不記得了。我記得他那時常到教務處，曾聽他說過高中時想要加入學校的管樂團，卻因不能通過試音無緣進入。如今擔任導師的他希望讓班上同學練管樂，於是就請當時的教務主任：劉昆忠主任協助，希望能把班上的聯課活動和音樂課安排為管樂練習時間，並再次聘請之前的曾教練回校指導，音樂課則是當時上音樂課的老師：許意紫老師指導。那些很久不用的樂器問題重重，裡面有些是吹不出聲音的，有些雖吹得出聲音卻是怪怪的，但為了要讓班上每位同學都有樂器，許老師便把那些有問題的樂器拿去樂器行來修，在毫無經費財源下自己出錢出力，並獲得劉昆忠主任的資助買了新樂器。一樣的樂器卻有著不同的命運。那些塵封已久的樂器獲得重生，也給了許老師一圓管樂的夢想。有著全班一起行動的訓練優勢，再加上許老師那一股執著的牛脾氣，平時的練習都親自在旁監督，學生的學習情況非常的好，不到一年的時間就已經上場演奏而獲師生好評。許老師心想管樂隊畢竟不能只是吹國歌和行進歌而已，於是請劉主任上網公告聘請管樂教練，聘請現任的張國興教練到校指導，重頭教起要同學看五線譜，他自己則到處蒐集樂譜，先是用借的拿來影印給同學，後來還自己掏腰包花錢上網訂購，希望讓同學可以吹奏更多的曲目。 聽見樂聲迴響：沒有舞台、沒有掌聲的表演是無法長久的。有舞台，練習才有熱情，有掌聲，才能鼓舞士氣。 許老師知道要管樂團能夠繼續存活的理由，就是要能夠『表演』。為了讓學生有表演的舞台和更多演出的機會，許老師想把管樂推進社區、活動中心來表演，便透過劉主任的聯絡家長會長和學區內的里長洽詢表演事宜，也得到正面的回應，期間包括新順里活動中心、達文西幼稚園耶誕晚會、安東學苑音樂會、慈安宮慶祝元宵節聯歡晚會的演出。之後還受邀參加台南市鄭成功文化季、孔廟、文化中心和成大蘭馨合唱團的演出，讓順中的樂聲更加播散開來。 在升學主義掛帥的教育環境下，要讓小孩學管樂多數的家長是不會放心的，主要的原因就是怕影響課業，為此學校在招收國小管樂營時都會辦理說明會，邀請家長到校面對面溝通，讓家長瞭解學校對於管樂營的學生在功課上的安排，避免家長擔心。 學校每學期的寒、暑假都會辦理兒童管樂訓練營，從一開始的小六到現在的小四、小五的學生逐年向下紮根，並在集訓完成後辦理成果發表會，請家長一同欣賞更獲得家長的支持與鼓勵。
