서울역사박물관 바로 옆에 있는 경희궁, 한 번쯤 지나쳐 보셨을 거예요. 그런데 이 궁의 전각 대부분은 일제가 아니라 1865년 경복궁을 다시 지을 때 먼저 헐려 나갔거든요. 1926년엔 왕좌가 있던 숭정전이 일본 사찰에 팔려 갔고, 정문 흥화문은 절의 문을 거쳐 신라호텔 정문이 됐습니다. 그래서 1980년대 복원 때는 건물을 데려오는 대신 땅을 파서 흔적을 읽기로 하죠. 그렇게 1991년 숭정전이 새로 세워졌고, 진짜 숭정전은 지금도 동국대에 그대로 서 있더라고요. 지금 우리가 걷는 경희궁이 어떻게 다시 태어났는지 따라가 봅니다. #경희궁 #숭정전 #흥화문 #서궐 …
