도쿄 한복판에 서 있던 108m, 24층 빌딩을 맨 아래 1층부터 부쉈습니다. 그런데 건물은 무너지지 않았고, 꼭대기 층은 마지막까지 멀쩡했습니다. 우리나라 재건축 현장에서는 보통 옥상에 굴착기를 올려 위에서부터 한 층씩 깨면서 내려옵니다. 일본에서도 폭파 해체는 금지가 아니라 허가제지만, 빌딩이 빽빽한 도심에서는 거의 쓰지 않습니다. 이 빌딩을 부수게 된 건설사는 34년 전 바로 이 빌딩을 지은 회사였고, 순서를 거꾸로 뒤집었습니다. 1층 기둥 40개마다 유압 잭을 끼워 위층 전체, 약 2만 7천 톤을 통째로 떠받칩니다. 기둥을 70~80cm씩 잘라 내고 잭을 …
