上个月底，法学家江平葬礼现场出现了中国前总理朱鎔基和温家宝和多位政界人物的花圈，这让他的学生贺卫方意外。本期节目柴静访谈贺卫方，谈他与江平在1989年的人生交汇；2006年共同声援被停刊的冰点周刊，致信胡锦涛；2007年为废止劳教制度，江贺联手，建议启动违宪审查。此后江平公开批评来自政法委书记周永康的阻力。2011年，贺卫方喊话王立军，批评运动式打黑，江平以老病之躯力挺，促使重庆事件落幕。在重大公共事件中，江贺一再重申，法治对公权力的制约也是对执政者自己的保障，“没有独立的司法，没有一个人是安全的。”江平的一生是中国法治与权力关系不断演变的说明，直至葬礼，仍是一场微妙表达。
